The establishment of comparative literature as an independent discipline and describing this academic field with its contemporary and interdisciplinary features.

 Studying the critical theory and its methods, and practicing it.

Instructing the students in how to examine language and literature from a global perspective

Examining the field of Turkish Language and Literature from a multicultural perspective.

Introducing the literatures and cultures of neighboring countries, and also informing about the neighboring geography.

Providing a ground for using English, French and German as medium of instruction in order to examine the literary works written in English, French and German.

Instructing students in the terminology of translation studies and how to use them.

Providing an opportunity to examine different literary genres which belong to different literatures and eras.

Providing an opportunity to examine languages, cultures, literatures and arts from a comparative perspective, and therefore, teaching how different cultures affect each other.
